In this first steps workshop you will take a simple garment and learn how to transform your favourite pieces into sewing patterns that you can use again and again. 

Workshop Highlights:

 **Clone Your Clothes**: You'll bring in a piece of clothing you adore, and under the guidance of our experienced sewing tutor Emma, you'll learn how to deconstruct it visually, measure its key components, and create a pattern that replicates its fit and style.

**Pattern Alterations**:  During the first toile you will learn how to modify and adjust your patterns to get the right fit according to your preferences.

By the end of this workshop, you'll leave with the skills to transform your wardrobe and express your unique fashion sense.  You will have made a first draft pattern and perhaps completed your first toile, in one day you are unlikely to have a completely finished garment but will leave with the skills to complete the task at home.

Bring a couple of simple woven garments to learn how to copy your clothes.  We can pick the best one to start with.  Bring some fabric for the toiles (or purchase some calico here) of a similar weight to the original.  You will also need your machine and sewing kit.  As it is a full day please bring a packed lunch. 

We will provide pattern paper, drafting tools full tuition from Emma and tea and cake to keep you going.
